This month the Sewcialists are hosting the Sew Brave theme month, which is all about going out of your comfort zone with fabric, style or techniques! I decided to make a Burda Style sheath dress – the sort of thing I could wear to a summer wedding or a Frocktails event and feel sassy and sexy! Aka. totally out of my comfort zone!

I’m blogging all about the dress and my thoughts on sexy sewing for every body on the Curvy Sewing Collective today – go check it out!
I have to say that side bust piece of the dress is fascinating. I don’t think I’ve seen quite that kind of curve before and it’s very elegant. Also, off to read about sexy dressing.

You look fabulous. You are so brave to go out of your comfort zone all the time. An inspiration! The one downfall over here in the UK is the cost of the fabric – often too expensive to risk going wrong.

Cost is definitely one of the reasons I end up sewing with so many polyester knits! Poly is cheaper, and knits are more forgiving.. so it’s a calculated risk! Plus i give away a ton of clothes if they don’t work for me. That doesn’t make it any more affordable, but at least it helps my guilt about wasting resources! 😉

Hi! I love your sheath dress! What a great idea on the power mesh lining. Any tips before I try it in a dress? Appreciate your wisdom and attitude!
