Nice weather is finally here!!! Hallelujah. We had a huge ice storm just two weeks ago, but it went up to 30c today, so I think I can officially take the snow tires off the car!
That said, I actually sewed this dress back in March, as one of my projects for the Cali Fabrics blog. In that post, I go into detail about what Liverpool actually is… so if you are curious, go check it out!
This is also my first-ever experience sewing a Burda pattern! It is B6439, which I chose because I don’t have an indie pattern yet with the same style. It is designed for wovens, but of course I made it in a knit… and I’ll do a complete review when I talk about the next version I made, which is the more bat-winged view!
In case you can’t tell from the pictures, I really, really like this dress! I’ve worn it a bunch of times with leggings, boots and a sweater, and it was a perfect pop of colour… but now that it is finally warm, I can also show off the sassy-but-classy V-neckline in the back. The skirt is my dream pencil-skirt-with-ease shape, and I warn you know, the skirt alone is already a TNT!
I’ve written a lot here about how I tend to overthink and stress about things… so you might have noticed that I’ve let my two-posts-a-week schedule slip, and I’m trying to make sure that every post is motivated by the joy of sewing. I never had trouble coming up with enough posts, but on top of the Sewcialists, it sometimes got a bit much. Thanks for being supportive and awesome no matter what!
For me, this dress is all killer, no filler – it puts a swing in my hips and a spring in my step every time I wear it!
Do you have an outfit that is making you happy right now? Is it a much-loved classic or something brand new?Β
Gillian, I LOVE your outfit, too. And yes, I can see why you love it, it makes your eyes sparkle. Sometimes blogging can involve quite a bit of pressure, I understand. I’m always excited to see what you’re sewing next, though, so try not to stress over it, I’m sure the rest of your fans can wait. π Keep up the good work!

I’m always impressed by how much you do do! With teaching full time, a marriage, friends and family close, sewing your own clothes, the fact you blog and take all these lovely pictures that you do (which obviously takes some editing work as well!) I don’t know where you find the time to write these fabulous blog posts too π Love your dress! Those colours are just gorgeous on you π

That’s a stunning print! As you say, a perfect pop of color on the colder months – my wardrobe can trend to the boring in winter – but I’m glad you’re enjoying warmer weather too!

What an absolutely stunning dress. I love this so much. The shape and the fabricate just perfect. You look fabulous in it. Sorry to hear that you are frayed. You do so much, and most of it it seems for others. Hope that you are managing to have a bit of me time to relax and do the stuff you love. Xx
